We are offering free accommodation or camping across the March long weekend to anyone willing to volunteer in our environmental program - i.e. happy to weed, clear, clean up! We have had 998 mm of rain in 6 weeks - and our monsoon vine thickets are under threat from weeds. If you or your family would like give us a few hours of your time - we will be very pleased to host you across the weekend. Each site or form of accommodation will have a set task, nearby to where they are staying to complete. If you are staying in bedded accommodation we request everyone using a bed (except children) give some time. Anyone taking part is asked to supply their own: - Personal Protection Equipment. That is a hat, gloves, boots, sunglasses. - hand tools such as spades, trowels and small bow saws. No volunteer will be requested to utilise chemicals, power tools, chainsaws or motorised equipment. All weeding is hand weeding, mainly buffo, double g, butterfly pea, stinking passionfruit vine and the usual suspects. Weed identification cards supplied. All volunteers will be sent a medical declaration form and will be requested to do a minimum of 2 - 3 hours per day. Yes - you can get it all over and done with on one day if you like! Families are welcome, and not all members of the family need participate in the working bee. No child labour. :) We know it will warm, we know you will need some looking after - so we will work out some surprises for you to add a bit of excitement. Hope to see you on the long weekend.
